Figurative Language Embedded With Music
The band Maroon 5 writes multiple hyperbole's in their song lyrics, for example, in the song "Sunday Morning" it represents hyperbolic actions by stating "In the darkness she is all I see." Clearly nobody can see in the dark, therefore it is an exaggeration, yet the girl he is singing about has a specific glow that catches Adam Levine's eye. The band's use of words flow smoothly and that brings a unique tone to the song.
As for the band Imagine Dragons, they embody a simile in their lyrics for the song "Believer", "falling like ashes to the ground." Their meaning behind that lyric is describing an emotional struggle and suffering. Imagine Dragons have an intense tone to this specific tune and it comes off as serious, yet also inspiring.
Lastly, in the Selena Gomez song "Naturally", the lyrics "you are the thunder and I am the lightening" resembles a metaphor due to the image it represents of the relationship between the thunder and lightening. Selena is describing how herself and the other person she is singing about go together like peanut butter and jelly but in this case it's thunder and lightening. Gomez has great use of imagery to paint a picture with her song lyrics.
Sunday morning is used in a lot of movies where the girl stands out so I totally understand the exaggeration.
ReplyDeleteIn "Naturally" we can see and almost feel the connection between the two in this song. Because know thunder and lighting go together while they are also dangerous.
DeleteI think my favorite one you explained is "Naturally". Good job!!
ReplyDeleteEven though we were supposed to chose from one artist still really enjoyed the songs that analyzed and explained to us. i also like the fact that you gave detail. awesome work.
ReplyDeleteMaroon 5 is one of my favorite bands. Great figurative language.
ReplyDeleteI like the lyrics "you are the thunder and I am the lightening", I believe it means two souls in love, like Thunder and lightning, they follow suit after each other.
ReplyDeleteI love Selena Gomez and I happy you chose that song because my girl said "you are my thunder and you are my lighting" and that is a example of a metaphor... LOVED IT.
